Tadao Tsukiyama

Born in 1939, Tadao Tsukiyama is a Japanese animator and the President of the Japan Animation Association. He has served as a professor and advisor at Nihon University, Toei Animation Research Institute, Tokyo Polytechnic University, and Takarazuka University. He is a walking encyclopedia and a leading figure in the contemporary Japanese animation field. After graduated from high school, he went to Tokyo as assistant to Osamu Tezuka, assisting in the collaborative production of the animation “Legend of the White Snake” with Toei Animation. It led him to join Toei Animation as an animator. Osamu Tezuka praised him as a “genius born for animation.” Osamu Tezuka established “Mushi Production” in 1965, and Tsukiyama assisted in the production of “A Story at the Street Corner,” “Astro Boy,” and “Leo the Jungle Emperor .” “Creation of the New World” awarded the Grand Prize in 1970, at the Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

Tadao Tsukiyama works in the animation industry for over 50 years, and is active in the Japanese television industry as independent producer. He radiates a profound influence in Asian animation and manga, then he aggressively nurtures young animation talent in recent years.
